What Makes Promax Pro Series different?

Promax Pro Series is a new, higher protein line that has a crisp texture, gluten-free, and sweetened with Stevia to create the ultimate clean protein bar for those who are serious about strength training and bodybuilding. Most high protein bars use one or more of three undesirable ingredients to reduce the amount of sugar in their bars; sucralose (an artificial sweetener), malitol (a sugar alcohol that can upset your stomach) and gelatin/collagen (an incomplete protein made from cows and pigs skins and hoofs). Using our innovative ingredient system, we were able to create a bar without these three and still provide a great taste with a competitive nutrition deck. Each 90g bar contains 28g of complete protein, whey protein primary source, less than 15 grams of sugar and 8-10 grams of fiber.

What’s different about PromaxLS lower sugar bars?

Unlike some other lower sugar protein bars that use maltitol (a sugar alcohol that can upset your stomach), artificial sweeteners (like sucralose), and incomplete proteins from animal bi-products (like gelatin), PromaxLS has 18g of complete, high quality protein, only 9g of sugar, is an excellent source of fiber, and contains stevia, a non-nutritive sweetener. PromaxLS is also gluten-free, vegetarian and contains no artificial sweeteners or animal bi-products.

The ingredients in PromaxLS work together to elicit a low glycemic response, while providing sufficient carbohydrates to help transport the proteins into the body’s cells. The fiber complements the reduced sugar and a significant amount of protein to help produce lasting satiety. Soluble corn fiber has been shown to be well-tolerated in the body.

What’s different about PromaxLS lower carb bars?

Counting carbs? Promax has two breakthrough new LS protein bars with only 10-11g of non-fiber carbs. The new bars, in brightly colored new packaging, have 18g of protein with only 3g of sugar and have 190 calories or less. They’re also an excellent source of fiber to help you stave off hunger. The uncoated bars are made with simple ingredients and are naturally sweetened with stevia leaf extract and erythritol, which are alternatives to artificial sweeteners. The bars contain no maltitol (a sugar alcohol that can upset your stomach) or incomplete proteins from animal bi-products (like gelatin). Like all Promax bars, they are kosher, vegetarian and gluten-free.

Section 2

Why do you use soluble corn fiber in PromaxLS bars?

Soluble corn fiber is used in PromaxLS bars because it is well-tolerated, has a low glycemic response and replaces sweeteners such as corn syrup or sugar, with only half of the calories. Soluble corn fiber is also an excellent source of dietary fiber and offers the health benefit of being prebiotic.

Are claims about the fiber content of Promax LS bars accurate?

Yes. Unlike some other bars containing dietary fiber (soluble and insoluble), the dietary fiber content in Promax LS bars has been confirmed by a third party laboratory using reliable analytical test methods of the AOAC International, as mandated by U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations.

Why is accurately measuring dietary fiber content so important?

The total carbohydrate content of a food consists of dietary fiber and other, less desirable carbohydrates, such as sugars and starches. If the dietary fiber content is overstated on a protein bar label, the “non-fiber” or “net carb” content will be understated. This is why we go to such lengths to ensure the accuracy and reliability of claims for both the fiber and non-fiber (net carb) content of Promax LS bars.

Why do Promax protein bars contain different types of natural sweeteners?

Promax protein bars are designed with different sweeteners to help optimize glycemic response. Some natural sweeteners, like dextrose, enter the bloodstream rapidly. Others, such as fructose, break down much slower. In a meal or nutrition supplement, when a profile of varying levels of sugars are combined with protein and fat, it creates a product that gradually increases blood glucose levels (associated with energy levels) and maintains them for an extended period of time. Stevia is used in PromaxLS and Pro Series as a non-nutritive sweetener and elicits no glycemic response. Erythritol is used in new Promax LS lower carb bars and is a sugar alcohol found in some fruits and is absorbed primarily by the small intestine causing minimal gastric distress. If you are looking for Promax protein bars with lower sugar, PromaxLS is a great choice.

Why do you include stevia in PromaxLS and Pro Series?

Stevia is a plant (specifically, a member of the chrysanthemum family) native to portions of northeastern Paraguay. Its leaves contain glycosides which account for its incredible sweetness, and have been used to sweeten foods and beverages for more than 200 years. Stevia is used in PromaxLS and Pro Series bars as a non-nutritive sweetener to make the bar taste great while reducing the amount of sugar in the bar. It is an alternative to artificial sweeteners like sucralose, saccharin and aspartame.

Why do you include Erythritol in your Promax LS lower carb bars?

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol found in some fruit and fermented foods. It is absorbed primarily by the small intestine causing minimal gastric distress. It has almost zero calories and has a very low glycemic index. We use Erythritol in our new LS lower carb bars products to enhance sweetness while still offering lower sugar.

Why do you include vitamins and minerals in some Promax protein bars?

Similar to a balanced whole food meal or snack, Promax Original and LS bars provide our bodies with beneficial amounts of carbohydrates, protein, dietary fat, and vitamins and minerals. Carbohydrates , protein and fat are known as macronutrients. Vitamins and minerals are known as micronutrients. They work together synergistically to support energy regulation, metabolism, digestion, immunity, lean tissue and bone maintenance, hormonal response, and a myriad of other important bodily functions. Promax Original and LS bars are an excellent source of 18 essential vitamins and minerals.

Which Promax bar provides the right carb to protein ratio for you?

The answer depends on what you are using the bar for. For energy during your workout and post workout recovery (particularly for cardio and endurance exercise), research shows that the 2:1 carb to protein ratio in Promax original bars will help provide the energy you need if consumed before a workout, as well as replenish glycogen and help repair tissue when consumed after a workout. If you are looking for a lower carb to protein ratio for strength training or as a meal replacement or snack, Promax LS and Pro Series bars are a good choice, particularly since many of the carbs are from fiber. For those following a low carb, low sugar diet, the new Promax LS bars have only 10-11g of non-fiber carbs and the lowest carb to protein ratio in our lineup.

Are Promax protein bars made with high-quality protein?

Absolutely. All of the proteins in Promax protein bars (soy, whey and milk casein) are complete proteins, which contain all nine amino acids, the building blocks of every structure in our body. Each of these three protein sources has the highest Protein Digestibility-Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) of 1, indicating they are all complete proteins.

Promax energy bars do not contain any gelatin, an incomplete protein source typically derived from processing pigs and cow skins and hoofs, which has a PDCAAS score of 0.

Do Promax protein bars contain a beneficial amount of protein?

Yes. Promax protein bars are an excellent source of high quality, complete protein. The highest protein per bar is found in Promax Pro Series bars (28g/bar) followed by Original Promax bars (20g/bar), then PromaxLS (18g/bar). They provide between 26- 40% of the recommended daily intake of protein (based on FDA guidelines) depending on the particular bar. The amount of protein in a Promax Original bar is the equivalent grams of protein to eating 3 large eggs (21g protein), two cups of low-fat milk (22g protein) or 4 ounces of canned tuna (20g protein).

Protein is an important part of a balanced nutrition program because it contains amino acids that are the building blocks of every structure in our body, including skin, hair, nails, muscle tissue, hormones and the immune system. Nine of these amino acids are classified as essential, meaning they cannot be manufactured by our bodies and must come from food. The protein in Promax energy bars helps the body recover after exercise, form new tissue and regulate key body functions.

Section 3

Do Promax protein bars contain gelatin?

No. Gelatin, typically made from the byproducts of the meat and leather industries, is an incomplete protein source. It lacks the amino acid tryptophan and contains only a small amount of methionine. Because of this, gelatin cannot be used as efficiently by your body as a complete protein such as soy or whey.

Do Promax protein bars contain maltitol?

No. All Promax protein bars are maltitol free. Maltitol is a sugar alcohol that is used as a sugar substitute, which can cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Excessive use can have a laxative effect. Additionally, some forms of maltitol have been shown to have a glycemic index equivalent to honey and only one less calorie per gram than sugar.

Do Promax protein bars contain high fructose corn syrup?

No. Promax protein bars do not contain high fructose corn syrup.

Do Promax protein bars contain trans-fats?

No. Promax protein bars are formulated with NO partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Hydrogenated oils are a primary contributor of harmful trans-fats in food products. We use only vegetable fats and vegetable oils in Promax energy bars.

Are Promax protein bars free from artificial preservatives, sweeteners, flavors and colors?

Yes. Promax protein bars contain NO artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives or colors. That includes no sucralose, aspartame, ace-K or sodium benzoate.

Which Promax protein bars are certified kosher?

All Promax bars are certified kosher.

Which Promax protein bars are gluten-free?

All Promax bars are certified gluten-free by the GFCO (Gluten Free Certifying Organization). The GFCO defines the standard for gluten-free as less than 10 ppm which is half the proposed FDA standard of 20 ppm gluten. GFCO certification requires that each ingredient has been evaluated and approved by the GFCO as gluten-free. In addition, strict standards have been set in the manufacturing facility to assure no cross-contamination. Finally, the finished product is tested as final assurance that Promax bars comply with the GFCO certification.

Section 4

Why do you recommend drinking 8-12 ounces of water with a Promax protein bar?

Promax protein bars are nutrient-dense and require liquids to efficiently breakdown and disperse their specific proportions of carbohydrates, protein, dietary fat, vitamins and minerals. Water is the best choice because it is non-caloric, caffeine-free and will not compromise a Promax energy bar’s nutrition profile.

When is the best time to eat Promax protein bars?

Enjoy Promax protein bars as part of your exercise routine or eat as a balanced snack or meal replacement. Consume 30-60 minutes before exercise for energy or within 30 minutes after your workout for post-exercise recovery.

Why are Promax protein bars good to consume post-workout?

The goal of your post-workout snack is to provide proteins to muscles so they can begin the recovery process (which can help prevent muscle soreness, and help repair muscle tissue) and provide carbohydrates to restore muscle and liver glycogen levels and to help stabilize your blood sugar.

Promax bars are an excellent post-workout snack as they provide a good carb to protein ratio and 18-28g of high quality protein to help you maximize your workout recovery.

Which Promax protein bars are favorable for a lower carb, lower sugar diet?

Counting carbs? Promax has two breakthrough new LS protein bars with only 10-11g of non-fiber carbs. The bars have 18g of protein with only 3g of sugar and have 190 calories or less. They are also vegetarian, gluten-free and kosher.

Is there anyone who should not eat Promax protein bars?

Yes. We do not recommend Promax protein bars for individuals with whey, soy, peanut, or tree nut allergies. People with diabetes or hypoglycemia should consult a physician before consuming Promax protein bars.

If I’m pregnant, can I eat Promax protein bars?

Yes. Promax protein bars contain protein, calcium, folate, and other important prenatal nutrients required during pregnancy and lactation; however, we recommend that they are used for snacks and not meal replacements. Promax protein bars, along with nutrient-dense meals, help assure that females get the extra calories necessary during pregnancy and lactation. Always consult a physician before using Promax protein bars or other nutritional supplements during pregnancy.

My kids simply love Promax protein bars. Are they appropriate for children?

Yes. Half of a Promax Original, LS or Pro Series Bar is a great snack for children. A whole bar may also be used as a snack or meal replacement for older kids that tend to skip meals or have little time to eat properly between activities. It is always a good idea to consult with your child’s pediatrician before using Promax protein bars or other nutritional supplements.

Which Promax protein bars are best suited for outdoor activities?

New Promax LS lower carb bars are perfect for outdoor activities. If you want to protect your Promax Original, PromaxLS or Pro Series bar on a hot summer’s day out, try keeping them in your cooler. Going to the mountains? Promax Original, PromaxLS and Pro Series hold up well in cold conditions.

Are Promax protein bars just for athletes or bodybuilders?

No, Promax protein bars are not just for athletes or bodybuilders. They offer portable nutrition for on-the-go moms/dads or busy professionals who, at some point in the day, skip a meal or snack on junk food. You can utilize Promax protein bars to fill in daily gaps where you typically skip a meal or make an unfavorable food choice. Promax protein bars can complement a proper, whole food diet.
